Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme Update - 23/06/2020
HMRC published, in June, a wealth of new guidance relating to how the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (‘the scheme’ or CJRS) will operate from 1st July 2020 to 31st October 2020. The concept of ‘flexible furloughing’ is introduced for this period, meaning that employees will be able to return to work on a part-time basis whilst still being eligible under the scheme.
From 1st July, employers will only be able to claim for employees who have previously been furloughed for at least 3 consecutive weeks any time between 1st March 2020 and 30th June 2020. Where an employee is flexibly furloughed, employers will be required to submit data on the usual hours an employee would be expected to work in a claim period, the employee’s actual hours worked, and the number of furloughed hours for each claim period.
As there is a clear distinction between Phase 1 & Phase 2 of CJRS, the Megapay setup and reports need to be changed for pay periods after July 1st. Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme - 26/05/2020
HMRC has confirmed that the online service for eligible employers to use to reclaim Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) back will be available from 26th May 2020. HMRC has updated guidance on the topic to confirm that, from 26th May 2020, any businesses with less than 250 employees as of 28th February 2020 can use the online service to reclaim any SSP paid out for Covid-19-related absence for a maximum of 14 days per employee.

CJRS Webinars - 29/04/2020
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) is a temporary scheme open to all UK employers for at least eight months, that started on 1st March 2020. It is designed to support employers whose operations have been severely affected by coronavirus (COVID-19). Employers can claim for 80% of furloughed employee's usual monthly wage costs (up to £2,500 a month) plus associated Employer NICs and minimum automatic enrolment employer pension contributions on that wage. The scheme is open to all UK employers that had created and started a PAYE payroll scheme on or before 19th March 2020.
