Employees who feel appreciated and cared for by their employers are more likely to go above and beyond for the company they work for. But most importantly, they will be happier in their jobs. Therefore it’s important for employers not to underestimate the importance of connecting with employees. Though some might find it difficult to personally connect with employees while still maintaining a position of authority, its merely a case of showing you care. These three easy ways to show your appreciation to employees are a good starting point.

  1. Go above and beyond to assist them.

It isn’t enough to assist your employees with only work issues; great employers should keep eyes open for ways to support employees with personal problems as well. Do you see an employee suffering from burnout? Why not offer a ‘duvet day’ so they can re-charge their batteries.

  1. Praise work well done.

Identify the specific actions of an employee that you found were very well done. This praise is more sincere as  the time was taken to spell out specific details—not just, “You did a good job.”

Social niceties go a long way in the workplace, so show appreciation for their hard work and contributions by saying Thank You. And don’t forget to say please often too.
